The Deceivers by Keala P.

In a little town called Plumeriawood of the state of Hawaii, there was a horrible murder of a 16 year old, Becky Smith. She was found hidden in a tree brutally shot ten times. Her four best friends Jennifer, Julia, Sandy, and Roxy were with Becky the night of her murder, except they all slept through the murder, not knowing who her killer was. These girls were known around campus as the “Deceivers”. They were the prettiest girls on campus but they were full of lies. The Deceivers have done many cruel pranks, one girl became deaf because of it, but the twist is that no one knows it was them. They were masters of lying; even a crook could believe them, causing the Police to find them as suspects of her Becky’s murder.
Over the summer following Becky’s death the multitude of their countless lies separated the Deceivers. Their first day back to Mauka High was the first time they have seen each other in three months. Upon them reuniting, they received a mysterious text from a person named B. The four girls are now confused of what just occurred. The text said “I know your lies. – B”. They started to brainstorm who this could be, but no one could figure it out. Whoever “B” is knows their darkest secrets, they can’t afford to have their secrets known.
That night they slept at Sandy’s house searching through yearbooks and blogs to see anything that would hint them to their blackmailer. Suddenly vibrating noises surrounded the room.
Jennifer said “OMG were being attacked my mockingbirds! Ahhhh!”
But her friends replied “No Roxy it’s our phones vibrating!”
All four phones received a text message saying “You won’t find me. Btw I know about how Tammy became deft!” They suddenly were extremely frightened of B.
Not knowing what to do Sandy blurbs out “we should tell the police!”
Jennifer says “The only way we could tell the police is if we tell them all our secrets, and if we do, who knows where we would be tomorrow. We could go to jail.”
They persuaded Sandy to keep it a secret. They figured out that none of them told their secrets to anyone other than each other. So who is B?
Roxy said “Why don’t we just ask B who she/he is?” with a deafening response her friends said “That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard!”
To support her idea Roxy said “there is no way to figure out who this person is, no hints, nothing. Is there a better suggestion? Calling me dumb, I’m the one with the idea!”
Being back at school the next day was like being in a different world. Looking around to see familiar faces, yet they felt suspicious toward everyone. While in English class Julia was asked to explain her answer for math homework. Usually getting the answers right, she was daydreaming and got it wrong, which was very unusual for her. After class Mrs. Claus with much worry asked Julia if she was okay. Julia deep down wanted to just blurb out everything to Mrs. Claus, it was killing her keeping this secret inside. In panic she responded quickly yes. This same situation happened to all the Deceivers in their classes, teachers were starting to get worried.
While walking down the hall they all got a text “Don’t look to worried now. I will never tell if you don’t!”
Roxy said “I’m confused, what am I not telling?” He friends just ignored the comment.
Julia looked up to see if she could tell who texted them that. In the far distance she saw a boy looking at them behind his locker, once their eyes locked he closed his locker and went the opposite direction. He had an afro, with dark black eyes and a scar above his lip that could pass as half a mustache. But that glance they shared made her believe he was B. Julia told her friends instantly, except the weird thing was that none of them knew who it was. They didn’t recognize him at all, so how does he know their secrets.
As they were walking out of school it started to rain so they all ran to Julia’s car. As they got in they recognized the boy whom they are suspecting as B driving a van that looked like the Mystery Machine from the cartoon Scooby Doo. They followed him, two cars behind, through their town and then to an area they didn’t recognize. They stopped at a house that was very out of ordinary. It was bright pink with about 15 big blue flowers surrounding it. They again questioned who this boy was. They soon saw him peeking at them from the upstairs window, with his dark black eyes once again, causing them to speed off!
At school the next day Julia waited by her locker keeping her eyes on the “mystery boy’s” locker. She waited and waited when her friends finally came and asked what she was doing. They then joined her, when he finally came. They followed him to his next class which was Biology. They walked inside and finally had the courage to talk to him.
Sandy said, “Hi. I’m Sandy; this is Roxy, Julia and Jennifer.” Jennifer then said “Why in the world are you blackmailing us your creeper!”
Roxy said “You’re ruining my life. I hear mockingbirds all the time now, they scare me!”
In shock he said “Hi. I don’t know what you talking about but I do no one thing everyone in my class now thinks I’m a creep! Thanks.”
He then stormed out of the room, and they followed.
His name was Ronald McDonald and he wasn’t B. He was completely different than expected. He was kind, he just moved to their town a week ago, from San Smiego. They explained to him what has happened to them. Julia told him how sorry she was of always staring at him, and especially exclaimed how sorry they were for following him home.
Roxy then asked, “Why is your house and your van so strange?”
Sandy then said “ We are so sorry for her. She is a little out there, if you know what we’re talking about!”
He laughed, replying with “It is totally fine! My sister got to choose the color of our house. For my car, it was the only used car I could find here in my price range.”
He told them that he would help them find B.
As soon as he said that they all received a text “Ooh don’t bring Ronald McDonald into this girls, before he gets a scare to complete that ugly half mustache of his.”
The help from Ronald was great especially because he was practically Fred in Scooby Doobie Doo, which was hilarious because his car matched him.
That Friday night they were all over at Jennifer’s house when they all received a text from B, even Ronald, “You think your finding me, but you aren’t even close. Look outside!” They walked outside with much caution. Spray painted on the mystery van said “if you want to know who I am, I’m Becky!”

  1. This was suspensful! I like how you had one of the suspects described as, "He had an afro, with dark black eyes and a scar above his lip that could pass as half a mustache." This made me chuckle to myself. I also like you made this satire based off of Pretty Little Liars. Good job!
